Garry’s Lament

Every year, Warwick Turf Club committee man Garry Adcock organises the Cup Calcutta, which has over the years been held at a variety of venues the Friday night before the Cup. Every year, he grumbles that it won’t be a success. Every year, it is.

It would not be a Cup Planning Committee meeting without Garry’s lament. This year’s Warwick Cup Calcutta will be held at the Turf Club’s headquarters at Allman Park, for the first time in a number of years. The doors of the members’ bar will open at 6.30pm for a barbecue and an evening of convivial good company while punters vie for the best draws in the chosen fields.

For those who don’t especially follow the races, but enjoy a good night out, the Calcutta is a great introduction to the races.

We’d love to prove Garry wrong again this year with a resounding roll-up for the Cup Calcutta at Allman Park on Friday night, 13th October at 6.30pm.
