Media Release 14th December 2007 Hey there Georgy Girls….. This Boxing Day, join the crowd at Warwick’s Allman Park and reminisce with songs you can sing along to such as, Georgy Girl, Morningtown Ride, A World of Our Own and I’ll Never Find Another You. These are just a few of the possible Seekers hits you will enjoy with legend and Seekers founding member Keith Potger.
The Warwick Turf Club is changing the format this year for the Hopes Body Repairs Christmas Recovery Raceday, by having a concert after the last race. And the special guest is Keith Potger, founding member of the internationally famous Australian group, The Seekers. Keith released his first solo CD ‘Secrets of the Heart’, containing 19 original tracks, in 2004 and followed that up in early 2007 with ‘Sunday’, a CD of mellow, laid-back songs. Keith’s solo performance will kick off around 5.30pm. So bring a chair for the after-races entertainment; latecomers are welcome and a sausage sizzle will start at 4.30pm for hungry racegoers and concert enthusiasts alike. The six-race meeting on Boxing Day will get your blood pumping and there is always a good complement of bookmakers, full TAB facilities plus the canteen and bars are fully stocked. Jane Grieve, Warwick Turf Club Secretary, explains: “It has become a Warwick tradition for families and friends to venture out and recover from Christmas at the Boxing Day Races. Last year we had just over 1400 people through the gate and going by the enquiries we are receiving we are expecting an even bigger crowd this year. I have even taken calls from people in Brisbane who are intending to come to the races and concert”. Gates open at 11.30am. Tickets are available at the gate only. It is advisable to arrive early for a good position. And for the concert goers, make sure you are comfortable, bring your blankets and chairs so that you can sit back or kick back and reminisce with rock Royalty at the Warwick races.
